What This Weekend Is
The Scribe Retreat is a quiet, restful weekend built around one simple practice: writing out the entire book of Ephesians by hand, word for word.
This isn’t a deep Bible study weekend — it’s simpler and slower than that. As you copy each verse, you naturally start to notice and remember Scripture in a new way. There will be light discussion along the way, but the heart of the weekend is the writing itself. By Sunday, you’ll go home with your own handwritten copy of Ephesians — start to finish, in your own hand.
We’ll gather as a small group — just 14 to 20 women, high school and up — to write, worship, and fellowship together. “Breakout groups” just means where you’re writing at a given moment: sometimes we’ll all write together in one room, sometimes in smaller groups scattered around the house, and sometimes completely alone — just you, a journal, and the Word.
The rest of the weekend is intentionally unhurried: good food, porch conversations, a hike if you’d like one, games, and time to simply be together.
Where We’re Staying
The Woodland Retreat, Tullahoma
Five bedrooms, four bathrooms, three living areas, and two large screened-in porches, tucked into the woods for privacy. It’s spacious enough for breakout groups to spread out and quiet enough for real rest.
Sleeping Arrangements
When you register, you’ll be able to indicate your room preference. Rooms are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
Main Suite
1 king bed · private bath · sleeps 2
Bunk Room
1 full bed + 3 twin beds · shared hall bath · sleeps 4
Queen Room
1 queen bed · shared hall bath · sleeps 2
Downstairs Suite A
1 king bed + queen sleeper sofa · sleeps 3–4
Downstairs Suite B

Total bed capacity: approximately 14–16 women. If our group grows beyond bed capacity, we’ll ask our high school girls to take the couches and extra floor space in the living areas — and we’ll make it cozy. Pillows, blankets, and air mattresses are provided, so no one needs to haul bedding from home. Bring a favorite pillow or blanket if you’d like, but it’s not required.
Meals
Your registration fee covers all meals for the weekend — Friday dinner through Sunday morning.
We’ll keep things simple and delicious so that no one is stuck in the kitchen and everyone gets to rest. Sunday morning will be a light breakfast before we head home. If you have dietary restrictions, the house has a fully equipped kitchen and you’re welcome to bring anything you need to supplement meals. Feel free to bring your favorite snacks for yourself or to share!
